Professional Headshots
If you’re applying for modeling jobs through online submission, it’s important to have a professional-looking headshot. This will show agencies that you are serious about your modelling career and have invested time in preparing yourself for success.
Your professional modeling headshot should be a natural-looking photo of your face, close up. It should also be well-lit, so that agencies can see your facial features clearly.
Agent
It’s important to get an agent to find you jobs and help you build your portfolio. Many agents specialize in different types of modeling; some only represent editorial models, others may only work with commercial or child models while other agencies focus on plus-size, showroom or fit models. It’s also important to get the opinion of more than one agent or scout before signing with any of them. Legitimate agencies don’t require models to take their classes or use their photographers.
Portfolio
In order to get a job, models must have a modeling portfolio. Modeling is a job that requires a lot of education, especially when it comes to posing and runway walking. You also need to know your best angles and have a strong understanding of lighting.
Once you have a good understanding of all the things you need to do in order to start your modeling career, it’s time to get started on your modeling portfolio. A modeling agency will require a book of digital pictures that will include your “stats” (measurements) and full body shots.
