WORLD-RENOWNED PHOTOGRAPHER DIEGO UCHITEL LAUNCHES HIS NEW BOOK,
POLAROIDS
“From the moment my father gave me my first camera at the age of nine, I was fascinated by what the camera saw that I did not.” – Diego Uchitel
New York, NY (September 2012) –Diego Uchitel, the Argentinian-born photographer known for his fashion, celebrity and landscape compositions, introduces Diego Uchitel:
Polaroids, his debut book published by Damiani and distributed in North America through ARTBOOK | D.A.P.. Available internationally late this fall, the monograph chronicles more than 25 years of his work with Polaroids, a medium that has both defined his universe and developed his renowned style.
Polaroids is filled with more than 240 never-before-published images reproduced in their original—and current—condition, with traces of tape and signs of wear and tear around their edges. The result is a visual catalog of dream-like images that reflect the tonal warmth and artistic eye of the photographer.
“Spontaneous by nature and distinct in palette, the Polaroid medium has arguably had the single largest influence on my career and to be able to capture that impassioned relationship in this book has been a lifelong dream,” said Uchitel.
In Polaroids, Diego has selected an array of his favorite images—both commercial and personal—that range from fashion designers (Diane von Furstenberg and Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler) to celebrities (David Bowie, Penelope Cruz, River Phoenix and Charlize Theron), to striking interior and landscape photographs.
Diego Uchitel: Polaroids will be available through select retailers in late Fall 2012 for a retail price of $50. For additional information please visit www.diegouchitel.com.
